Single-sex education is alive and well in the United States. In fact, the number of public schools splitting boys and girls into separate classrooms increased from around a dozen in 2002 to about 500 in 2012, according to the Christian Science Monitor.

Niche, a company that specializes in data on educational institutions, recently released its list of the top private high schools in the country based on the following categories: "SAT/ACT scores, the quality of colleges that students consider, student-teacher ratio, private school ratings, and more."

Here are the top 10 all-boys' schools from the ranking:
