Gather 'round, Wilderness Girls: the 1989 classic Troop Beverly Hills is getting a sequel. Here's what we know about the film so far.

A newcomer is directing.

Israeli-born AFI Conservatory graduate Oran Zegman will make her feature debut with this long-overdue sequel. She'll be working off an original script by Aeysha Car (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Woke) which is getting a rewrite from Tamara Chestna (the scribe behind Amy Poehler's upcoming movie Moxie).

Laurence Mark, known for his work on The Greatest Showman and Julia and Julia, among other films, is attached to produce.

There's no word on the casting yet.

Troop Beverly Hills diehards will remember Shelley Long as the actress behind the movie's socialite-turned-troop-leader Phyllis Nefler. It's not clear if Long will return, or if any of the original cast—many of whom gathered to celebrate the film's 30th anniversary last year—will reprise their roles.

The new movie has been billed as a sequel, so it's possible that it'll continue the original characters' stories in some way, but nothing's certain yet.

It's still early days.

Unfortunately, the new Troop Beverly Hills won't be appearing in theaters anytime soon—not least because so many of them are shuttered. A timeline for production hasn't yet been set in stone, and when it is, the cast and crew will have to contend with limitations brought on by the pandemic. But rest assured, Town & Country will update this article if any new developments surface.
