June 13 was a special day for Sweden's Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia— it was the couple's fifth wedding anniversary. In honor of the occasion, the pair used Instagram to look back at their royal wedding, sharing previously unseen photographs.
The ten new images give an inside look at the celebration at Stockholm's (aptly named) Royal Chapel. The photos include shots of Prince Carl Philip getting suited up in his official garb with best man, Jan-Ake Hansson, Princess Sofia taking a selfie with her father, and other behind-the-scenes moments.
The post is accompanied by an excerpt from the Prince's wedding speech, originally in Swedish. It reads, "Every person comes to a crucial choice; a choice that determines your future and is about who you are and above all who you want to be. And often it takes courage. Courage not to choose the easy path just because it is easy, but courage to stay on the difficult path because it is right."
In addition to showing sweet moments from the wedding, these new photos give followers a closer look at some of the event's smaller details. A black and white shot centers on the long train and couture lace of Princess Sofia's elaborate wedding dress, created by designer Ida Sjostedt. Another photograph showcases the table settings, complete with gold flatware, crystal glasses, and a rose centerpiece. Followers also get to see dessert preparation and the final product, a cake featuring six layers of raspberries, strawberries, rhubarb, and pistachio, served with sorbet. In an unexpected choice, the cake was set on a bed of Pop Rocks candy.
Prince Carl Philip, fourth in line to the Swedish throne, met Princess Sofia, then Sofia Hellqvist, in 2010. Prior to becoming a royal, Sofia was a model and reality television personality. After dating for five years, the pair married, making Sofia's official title, Princess Sofia, Duchess of Värmland.
Five years after the big event, the couple now has two sons, Prince Alexander and Prince Gabriel, who are fifth and sixth in the line of succession to the Swedish throne, respectively.
