Queen Elizabeth is showing no signs of slowing down. At 93, she's well past the age at which most people retire; and yet, the monarch continues to keep up with her extensive royal duties, and even find some time for fun.
This week, the Queen was seen riding horseback on the grounds of Windsor Castle, handling her horse like the master equestrian she is. She was seen with Head Groom Terry Pendry, trotting on a horse beside her. Fashion-wise, she went for a headscarf, sunglasses, and simple outfit—very much in line with what she tends to wear on horseback rides.
This isn't an isolated incident; the Queen is often spotting enjoying time with her horses. (She is, after all, famously very into horses.) Last year, she was photographed more than once on horseback—including on the morning that her great-great-grandson, Prince William and Kate Middleton's son Prince Louis, arrived.
The Queen's love of horses started early in life and have lasted through the decades. She even passed on her equestrian passion to her daughter, Princess Anne, who in turn inspired her daughter, Zara Tindall, to get into the sport. (Tindall even went on to win an Olympic medal as a member of the U.K.'s eventing team at the London games in 2012.)
Even if she's not competing alongside her eldest granddaughter in the Olympics, Queen Elizabeth is certainly accomplishing some laudable equestrian feats of her own—and likely will for some time to come.
