One of Kenneth Jay Lane's final projects is finally available to purchase. The jewelry icon passed away in July at the age of 85, but before his death, he teamed up with Tory Burch on a stunning capsule collection of statement earrings, bracelets, and pins inspired by his archive.
"Kenny designed some beautiful pieces for us when we launched 13 years ago, and we have wanted to collaborate with him again ever since. The timing is bittersweet, but I am incredibly grateful to have had the chance to work with him on this capsule before he passed away," Burch said of Lane. "He was an extraordinary talent and great friend, and I will miss him dearly."
In fact, it was Lane who inspired Burch to name the company after herself. "When we started, I didn’t want to use my full name. We tried to get 10 different names, all of them were taken, so we named our company, Tory by TRB," she revealed in an interview on her blog.
"At a dinner two years later, Kenny pulled me aside and said, use your full name—everyone is referring to it that way anyway. He was right."
Of the collaboration, Lane said the best part was "that it makes me closer to Tory."
