Fans of boundary-breaking period dramas, rejoice: Gentleman Jack's first season didn't even finish before the show was renewed for a second go-around. Here's what we know about chapter two of the Anne Lister-inspired drama.

Gentleman Jack's showrunner, Sally Wainwright, has revealed her plans for season two.

Anne Lister and Ann Walker will "move into Shibden together in series two and it's about how they negotiate their married life, conspicuously in public, and how they deal with their detractors and the effect that has on their relationship as well," Wainwright told Digital Spy.

And after that? The BBC and HBO have yet to order a third season, but Wainwright would love to continue telling Lister and Walker's story. "Obviously we've got season two, which is fantastic, and I hope it will continue on after that," she said. "There's no end of stories, the diaries, this huge wealth of knowledge."

The actresses behind Lister and her wife Ann Walker, Suranne Jones and Sophie Rundle, will be back.

"We always dreamed there would be more and now we get to play it all out," Jones said, per Deadline. "It’s such amazing and positive news. I love working with the brilliant and talented Sophie Rundle and can’t wait to create some more Lister and Walker moments with her too."

Eight episodes have been ordered.

As was also the case for season one, the plot lines in the second run will be based on Anne Lister's diaries. The series will also continue to be co-produced by HBO and the BBC.

As of now, there's no word on a premiere date.

Sadly, there's not even a vague hint as to when fans can expect more Gentleman Jack. But stay tuned—Town & Country will continue to offer updates right here.
